Laser resurfacing is one of the most effective care procedures for skin quality. And one of the most demanding for the patient. So I will start not with the result, but with what is usually written in small print at the bottom.
This is not a care procedure you have at lunchtime and go back to work. After resurfacing the skin turns red, swells and burns, then forms crusts that come away over several days. The first visible changes appear in one to two weeks. The final result develops over two to six months, because collagen renews slowly.
Plan the care procedure so that you have at least seven to ten free days. Not before a wedding, a beach holiday or an important meeting. If you do not have that much time, it is better to choose something gentler, and we will discuss the options.
A fractional CO₂ laser creates many microscopic care procedure zones in the skin, leaving the tissue between them untouched. The skin reads this as a signal to renew itself: the undamaged areas help healing, and in response to the micro-injury the production of new collagen and elastin begins.
The clinic works with the Lumenis UltraPulse® Encore. UltraPulse technology delivers energy precisely and in measured doses, so it is possible to work on even delicate areas such as the eyelids and to adjust the intensity according to how much recovery time you are able to set aside.
This is not a complete list. All contraindications are checked at an in-person consultation, and the decision is made by the doctor after an examination.
Consultation: the doctor assesses the condition of the skin and your goals and rules out contraindications. Preparation: the skin is cleansed and, if needed, a numbing cream is applied. The care procedure: the selected areas are cared for with the laser. Afterwards you receive precise aftercare instructions and a recovery plan.
Often one is enough, especially when the goal is a serious one: pronounced rejuvenation or work on scars. For gentler goals or sensitive skin, a course of two or three lower-intensity care procedures may suit better. What is right for you is decided at the consultation.
Laser resurfacing at Intelligent Beauty Clinic is performed by Dr Sergei Sarap (M.D.), registration no. D03503. He has worked in medicine since 1975 and has specialised in laser and aesthetic procedures since 1999.
As a cosmetologist I look after the patient before and after: I help prepare the skin and accompany the recovery. Much of how the healing goes, and what the result will be, depends on that.
The price depends on the area and on the laser mode. The exact amount is given at the consultation, after an examination of the skin.
